For tomorrow's class please make sure that you bring your project composition books. I want to see that you have calculated the hypotenuse (diagonal or steepness) of every stair you have measured. Please refer to the blog and Component 1 for the formula.
For tomorrow you will come to class and write a reflection on what you have measured, what have you learned so far about the construction of the stairs and our school building, and can start drawing some conclusions about the construction of the building in general. Also, I want you to take a few minutes and sketch not only the stairs, but the layout of the stairwells you have observed and measured.

Welcome
Hi Everyone,
Here is the math blog that I spoke about in class today. Please make sure that you check this site at least once per day. Below you will see the links for the staircase project. Please review both components, but pay special attention to the 1st component as that is what we are currently working on. Please remember to bring a new composition notebook to class for tomorrow. I will not be in class tomorrow, but Ms. McRae will have the tape measures and you can continue to work in the stairwells and collect your data. You might want to consider bringing an automatic tape measure to class, similar to the one that Sara brought with her, as that will make your job much easier. Please keep in mind that Ms. McRae and I will be conducting random checks of your project notebooks to make sure that you are keeping up with the assignments.
If you have any questions please e-mail Ms. McRae or myself and we will be happy to help you. Good luck and have fun!!
